Within the area of interest of the Marble Road district, the question of environmental recovery and restoration of disused quarries is of strategic importance.
The Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani has been involved for a long time in environmental restoration matters through an active and fundamental positioning within the process linked to stone industry production.

monte fieno

MONTE FIENO

A result of the quarrying process that took place in the period between the 1950s and 1970s, the former quarry of Monte Fieno is a  recovery project which involves filling it with the stone “by-product“ provided by partner companies. The use of this restoration technique will mean  levelling the ground, and bringing back its morphological aspect to its original state while completely respecting the environment. Once this phase has been completed, we envisage the creation of footpaths as well as tree planting and green reclamation with indigenous natural species.

CORNA ROSSA

The Corna Rossa recovery project was started in different phases. Following the first safety measures on the south side of the quarry, where the walls were fitted for rock climbing, Corna Rossa has quickly become a destination for local climbers. Securing work on the north side of the quarry is still continuing, following a recovery and enhancement project through the contribution of stone “by-product“, for the creation of a park that uses the natural amphitheatre shape of the quarry to provide a venue for concerts and shows.
